THE COLLEGE
ROI PROJECT

Helping Students Get the Most Out of Their Four Years On Campus.

OUR VISION

The Hidden Curriculum

Many students arrive on campus believing that if they show up to class and get good grades, the rest will take care of itself.  But success in college and beyond requires a set of skills, experiences, and relationships that most universities don’t automatically provide.  Students will need to learn how to do things like finding a mentor, building a professional network, and taking advantage of the resources available on campus.  This is the “hidden curriculum” of college, and the College ROI Project is dedicated to introducing students to this curriculum so that they can get the most out of their four years in school.

OUR VISION

Why This Matters

As many as 40% of the students who enroll in college leave without a degree.  And those who do graduate are facing an increasingly difficult job market.  With AI already beginning to disrupt the entry-level positions that college graduates previously sought, now more than ever college students need to make sure that they are mastering the “hidden curriculum” and getting the most out of their four years on campus.

About

Christian McNamara has spent the vast majority of his adult life either attending or working for universities across the country. Most recently, he spent twelve years at Yale, where he was a lecturer in the School of Management. Over the course of his time in higher education, he has become convinced that our approach to college and the college admissions process is deeply flawed in ways that negatively affect the mental health and well-being of students and inhibit their long-term success.

Christian is a graduate of Harvard Law School and the University of Notre Dame and a proud product of the Hillsborough County Public School System. He lives in Ponte Vedra, Florida, with his wife and two children.
